MADRE!

This past weekend was eventful and full of restaurant exploration as I dined at three different Los Angeles spots. On Sunday, I met up with a girlfriend at Madre! and was impressed by their food and service.

If you love Mexican food, I highly suggest you visit Madre! at any of their three locations: Torrance, Culver City, and West Hollywood. The Oaxacan inspired restaurant is vibrant and embraces the Latino culture to the max with modern twists. The staff is attentive, the food is delicious, and the conversation was amazing.

We started off with a fresh order of guacamole and elote (corn). Both dishes are flavorful and were enough for two people to share. I absolutely loved the elote. It was creamy and savory. The picture says it all.

ELOTE IS BOMB!

For my main entre, I ordered carne asada soft tacos with a side of rice. Unfortunately, rice and beans are not served with their entrees like at other Mexican restaurants, but their serving sides will fill you up. The asada tacos, topped with beans, were tender to the bite and unbelievably delectable.

Note:  I did not take a picture of the tacos because I immersed myself in conversation and began eating them as soon as they hit the table. Whoops!

The atmosphere of Madre! is vivacious and welcoming. The music is at the right volume where you are not shouting over it to converse with your table. The staff was attentive and quick to make sure we had everything we wanted. Since I was driving, I did not try any of their cocktails, BUT I do plan to go back so I will have to update this post.

The menu price point, I would say, is mid-level. It is not too pricey, but some items (for myself) are priced a little higher than I would regularly like to pay. However, the experience and the quality of their food is worth the cost. I plan to go back again and try other items and a cocktail.

How cute is their bar?

If you are looking for a chic spot, visit Madre! They are well known for their mezcal and mole, which I plan to taste the next time I visit. Happy Hour is every Monday through Friday, between 3 – 6 p.m.

Happy dining!
